Navigating the Use of Hyperdocs

Added September 2, 2019

In the sport marketing class, in addition to using virtual simulations with some course topics, last year we began using Hyperdoc modules in effort to create engaging ways to connect with the content and to allow students to demonstrate the methods they find most useful when learning about a new topic. Students are responsible for creating a module on their assigned topic which progresses through the various learning stages. Once the class has completed the module and assignments, the student assigned the topic then leads the class in a discussion about what they learned with the professor attempting to fill gaps in the learning through participation in the student-led discussion.

This strategy is using a flipped-classroom concept where students work through research and assignments individually and then collectively discuss the topics in a face-to-face setting. To be honest, students have actually stated to me that they would rather come into class and take notes rather than working through the content in this manner; however, my justification is the learning is deepened and students are provided an opportunity to share their learning strategies.

Below are links to several documents that I am currently using that I hope you might find helpful in understanding hyperdocs.
